First Aid - Level 1

Duration: 2 Days

The Department of Labour regulation states that ''an employer shall take all reasonable steps that are necessary under the circumstances, to ensure that persons at work receive prompt first aid treatment in case of injury or emergency''. The employer is required to provide first aid training. Our first aid training course will provide learners the necessary skills to respond to a workplace emergency and teach them how to perform basic life support and first aid in emergencies. Learners will cover theoretical knowledge and will learn vital practical procedures using medical simulation mannequins.

First Aid - Level 2 & 3

Duration: 5 Days

The Department of Labour requires the appointment of first aiders where more than 10 workers are employed at a workplace. The employer is required to provide first aid training. Our first aid level 2 and 3 courses provide the training, assessment and certification to become a qualified first aider. Alongside meeting these requirements, you will also be equipped with the knowledge and skills to administer a wide variety of first aid techniques in the workplace with confidence – from treating minor wounds to saving the lives of colleagues in life-threatening situations. Learners will cover theoretical knowledge and will have to perform practical skills.

Basic Fire Fighting

Duration: 1 Day

It is the responsibility of employers to ensure that their staff are adequately trained on what to do in the event of fire. Our basic fire training course will teach employees how to prevent fires from starting, how to use a fire extinguisher and what to do when a fire starts in the workplace. This course equips learners with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves and others in the event of a fire. This involves identifying fires, carrying out fire procedures, evacuating staff and tackling small fires.

SHE Rep Safety Health & Environmental Representative

Duration: 1 Day

The Health and Safety Representative Course appointment is a legal requirement under Section 17 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and thus compulsory for every organisation. Learners will be taught to understand the objectives and statutory requirements pertaining to health and safety in the workplace. The learners will be able to explain the rights, powers, functions and duties of the workplace health and safety representative and how any errant health, safety and environmental issues may be handled. Learners will also be able to participate in the safety, health and environmental structures and measure these activities according to health, safety and environmental requirements.

Fire Warden

Duration: Half Day

There is a legal requirement on employers to prepare an Emergency Plan that outlines how the workplace will be evacuated in the event of a fire outbreak. Fire Wardens are designated the responsibility of executing this plan in an emergency situation. The Fire Warden course aims to inform learners of the responsibilities in running a fire drill effectively and safely. It also details the steps involved in developing an Emergency Plan for the workplace, in the event that one does not currently exist.

Conduct Workplace OHS Inspections

Duration: 1 Day

This course will help the learner understand the legislation that applies to occupational health and safety; the impact that non-compliance would have in the workplace and understand the inspection protocols applicable to the workplace. Learners will also be able to carry out physical inspections and record, report and deal with the results of the inspection in order to implement corrective and preventative actions.

HIV/AIDS awareness

Duration: Half Day

AIDS affects millions of South Africans. This course enables learners to gain an understanding of the nature, transmission and prevention of sexually transmitted infections including HIV/Aids. In this awareness course we look to break down the walls of prejudice born out of ignorance and fear. The course teaches awareness which gives learners knowledge and power to protect themselves and their colleagues.

Home Safety Awareness

Duration: Half Day

This is a practical three hour basic first aid and fire prevention course and is perfect for parents, childminders, caretakers etc. The course will give you the confidence to deal with the common medical emergencies that can be experienced with infants, children and adults. You will learn vital life saving skills such as CPR, dealing with choking incidents and how to treat burns and fractures.

The course will also cover fire prevention in the home as well as basic fire fighting skills such as using a fire extinguisher and a fire blanket. The course provides essential insight into recognising the importance of fire safety and will increase awareness of the threat posed by fire to your family and your home.

SCBA (Breathing Apparatus)

Duration: 1 Day

Breathing apparatus is highly specialised equipment and potential wearers must be adequately trained. This course is for employees who are required to use breathing apparatus during occupational assignments with hazardous gas or vapours or in confined spaces, as well as in emergency operations. The course will teach learners the correct care, operations and use of SCBA sets.
